cockroaches (3 common types)

GERMAN COCKROACH

The German cockroach is 5/8 inches in length and is brown in color. There are two prominent black stripes running down the broad shield behind the head.

AMERICAN COCKROACH

The American cockroach is the largest of the common cockroaches that prefers to be around and with humans.  It is also known as the Palmetto bug or water bug.  As an adult, they are dark red/mahogany in color, with a yellowish border on the middle body section.  This yellowish border may make the pronotum appear to have two spots in the middle.  The body is typically 1 1/4" in length.

BROWN-BANDED

Brown-banded cockroaches get their name from the two lighter bands they have across their dark brownish bodies. Male brown-banded roaches have full wings that reach beyond the tip of their pointed abdomens, but females have underdeveloped wings that prohibit them from flying.
